Recording a Beme

You can record on Beme in three different ways:

  • When you’re on the Beme homepage, cover the proximity sensor on your phone for at least 2 seconds to trigger the record function (the sensor should be near the earpiece). If you’ve done it right, a short animation will play, and your phone screen will go dark. Your Beme will post after 8 seconds of continuous recording, but if you’re finished shooting before 8 seconds, just uncover the sensor. Keep in mind that most devices that aren’t smartphones don’t have a proximity sensor. That means that if you’re using an iPad or another tablet, you won’t be able to record this way.
  • Option two is the icon at the bottom of your home page labeled “Camera.” Press and hold the button for at least 2 seconds to start recording from the back camera of your phone. And don’t worry if you need to adjust your grip—as long as your finger is on the screen and there’s a little green circle tracking it, your Beme will keep on recording. To post, let go of the screen or wait for the timer to count down to 0.
  • Option three is a lot like option two. Press and hold the button labeled “Selfie” for at least 2 seconds to start recording from your phone’s front camera. To post, let go of the screen or let time run out.

If you shoot a bunch of individual Bemes in a short period of time, your clips will get stitched together into one long Beme.
